Everyone knows that the controller for Nintendo's next generation console will be very different to standard controller for any existing game consoles.

But, does everyone knows that the standard controller today was also very different to other controllers at that time when it was introduced?

The Joysticks was the standard controller before the current cross button looking standard controllers. No one imagined the controller like we have today... Except for Nintendo.

Nintendo introduced today's standard controller with cross looking button when they developed "Game Watch", LR buttons on the top of the controller for "Super Nintendo", the analogue stick for Nintendo64.

Needless to say that the game industry has been following Nintendo's controller standards for last decades. And now with successful trail with Nintendo DS, Nintendo is introducing the controller which has anomalous potential, anomalous enough to make another history of controllers.

I guess after Nintendo successful deployment of the new controller, all other consoles will follow the same way again... Very Happy

the rev controller could just as easily go down in hisotry as an unnecessary attempt at innovation designed to put a fading game company back on the map. the current style of controller works fine - why change it?

i think nintendo are just doing it for the publicity - whether the rev and its controller succeed or fail, it will have gotten everyone talking about nintendo again.

The controller is attractive to me Smile Whats good about NR if it doesn't have that controller? Yeah sure, price will be lower than others , but then what else?
I mean I like that controller and that is why I wanna buy it, but if you deny that new controller then I wanna know what makes you interest in NR??? Shocked
